MS 150, a ride for a good cause

Jenny and I had been training to ride the MS 150 in Logan, UT, for the past few months.  Every Sunday we headed out for a 50 mile or so ride on our bikes.  Jenny had even reached out to a very nice lady named Desaree Venema, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2006.  Desaree lives in Germany but Jenny had actually spoken with her over the phone about MS and the ride, both had agreed it would be a great idea for Jenny to devote the ride to her and print her name on Jenny's jersey.

The weekend before the race, we decided to take it easy and just go for a fun mountain bike ride instead of road biking, and then it happened....  Jenny hit a rock and she fell on her wrist right there on the trail.  After an ER visit, we learned she had severe muscle strain in her left wrist/hand.  Fortunately, she didn't break any bones!  Unfortunately, we both felt there was no way she'd be ready to ride 100 miles with only 6 days to rest and heal.
After all of the training, fundraising, and hard work, we would not be able to ride together.  Jenny felt terrible that she couldn't ride, especially for all the donors who generously donated for her to ride in this benefit.

So,I set out on my own on Saturday, but the ride wasn't that fun without Jenny, and I opted to only do the 75 mile loop.  Don't take it the wrong way; I've never cycled further than 65 miles, so it still was a success for me.  And the course had some beautiful scenery.  And that's that people. Next year is our chance to face the challenging 150-mile course and raise some more money to help find a cure for MS!  Thanks for your support and we will see you at 2009's MS 150!
